Individual and group volunteers must submit an application, complete an interview and learn the House rules before starting. Houseparents must also undergo a background check.
Volunteer Opportunities Include:
an adult (18 years or older and out of high school) who volunteers during the 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. evening shift or on holidays to help provide 24-hour coverage. A Houseparent acts as a relief manager during non-business hours. Because there is a moderate amount of training, those interested in houseparenting must commit to a minimum of three evenings a month for six months. Some responsibilities include answering phones, registering families, providing tours and supervising other volunteers.
helps with mailings, record keeping, data entry, answering phones and other tasks on a weekly and as-needed basis.
assists with planning and staffing fundraising events.Back to Top
staffs an information table at fundraisers and community events, speaks to various clubs, organizations and schools about our mission.
assists the office staff and families between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.; must be high school age or older.
Special Project Volunteer
assists on an occasional basis with a specific project, such as any of the roles below.

Cook Meals or Bake
for families; meals and treats can be prepared beforehand or in our well-equipped kitchen.
Planters, Gardeners & Clean-up
needed during the spring or fall for seasonal tasks and an as-needed basis.
Holiday & Celebration Help
decorate common areas, make a special meal or celebrate specific holidays and parties.
qualified contractors, professionals and handy-persons to assist with House repairs and maintenance as needed.
Pop Tab Collectors
to collect aluminum pop tabs for recycling. We receive money for every pound of aluminum can tab tops collected and brought to the House for recycling (the amount we receive depends on market activity). It’s a great way for children, schools, offices and other organizations to support the Ronald McDonald House.
